This is one of the coolest things we’ve come across lately and can see how this might impact how we do things in the future.
Virtual Reality (VR) technology is fast developing as an immersive part of our daily lives. The introduction of Unreal Editor is arguably the coolest advancement in VR since the invention of 3D content creation. In essence, Unreal Editor is a VR engine created by Epic Games and allows you to create your own team, assets and your own video game from within VR.
With the help of HTC Vive or the Oculus Touch motion controllers, you can also use the Unreal Editor to map out your movements in the real world one-to-one to VR. It allows you to reach out, grab and control objects in the same way you would do in real life. Using this tool is easy in the sense that it works like the real world works.
Unreal Editor is set to transform our way of creating things both in virtual environments and in our day-to-day activities. Not only will it benefit video game artists, but will also benefit real-world artists such as sculptors, painters and architects. According to Tim Sweeney, the CEO of Epic Games, creating VR content from the outside of VR is inherently backwards given the immense evolution in VR.
“Building VR content up until now has been completed outside VR. You have to sit in front of a PC, looking at the monitor, keyboard and the mouse, which is pretty backwards considering the VR revolution. The Unreal Editor is all about changing this,” Said Sweeney.
The public release date of Unreal Editor will be announced later this month and as you wait for that, watch this video and get some insights on this futuristic device today, because we have a feeling that this will be the norm very soon.
