The release of record-breaking Star Wars: The Force Awakens has inspired loads of geeky engineers who are always trying their hands in creating replicas of many items seen in the movie. One prominent item that has been popular with these nerdy engineers is the lightsaber, which as we all know are the coolest of all the weapons featured in the Galactic movie. While there have many replicas of lightsabers, this latest one posted on YouTube by Martin Beyer is by far the most impressive model ever made.
Naming it Graflex Saber 2.0, Beyer points out that this is his second prototype lightsaber that was inspired by the laser blue lightsaber that is so synonymous with Anakin and Luke Skywalker. By his own high level, Beyer is quick to admit that even though he’s been working on this project for quite some time, he still feels that it has not reached the perfection that would make it good enough to sell. His projection makes you wonder how this magnificent lightsaber will look like when he is fully satisfied with it given that it is a highly-detailed piece of engineering even in its current state.
His list of components used in making this awesome lightsaber includes:
- A crystal chamber with the crystal being a blue Aqua Aura Quartz that is removable.
- Soundboard: CF 7,5 from Plecter Labs
- Batteries: 2x 3.7V 14650 (1,1 A)
- Vintage Graflex Flash Gun
- 2W Speaker
- Main LED: Triple creed (blue, green and white)
In the clip, Beyer is shown closely inspecting the shiny lightsaber that has a very beautiful light, fine details and even sound effects, which are enabled by the presence of a monitor sensor. This intricate piece comes with a spectacular blue laser light that looks exactly like the one used in the Star Wars Movies. Makes you wonder how far away we are from the actual thing.
Behold the mastery.
