The iconic German brand is looking to rival Tesla with this next concept car.
Without a doubt, Tesla is the world’s most well-known electric car manufacturer, but it won’t be long before a worthy rival comes up from German automaker Mercedes-Benz. It’s widely reported that the German luxury brand is planning to showcase its new piece in September at this year’s Paris Motor Show.
Even though its specific name hasn’t been released and it’s still only known as Mercedes EV (Electric Vehicle), reports indicate that the pure-electric sedan will be “dangerously fast” and would come at a cost of around $100,000 o rmore, which puts it in a slightly higher price bracket as the Tesla Model S.
This is going to serve as the first electric car concept from Mercedes Benz and is should come as a no surprise that a number of other automakers such as Audi, Porsche and BMW are all planning to create new electric cars to tap into the expanding electric vehicle market that’s currently dominated by Tesla.
As an established brand with more resources, the Mercedes-Benz entrance into the electric vehicle market could dampen Tesla’s sales success and may even bring additional cool factors that have not been witnessed in the electric vehicle industry yet. This is shaping up to be one very cool competition.
