This is taking music to a whole new level, in a bunch of ways!

Music lovers and ardent listeners often note that listening to music is as addictive as the experience of indulging into drugs. The calming effects and the feel-good-factor that music brings to the listeners are extraordinary and blatantly addictive. Even with this notable “power of music,” a Florida-based tech company called Nervana still feels that music alone is not enough.

Instead of just targeting high definition sound, the startup company is making the experience of listening to music a level better and more blissful. In a month’s time, the startup company is set to introduce headphones that stimulate the release of dopamine in the brain, thereby making you feel high as if on drugs.

With its latest technologically-enhanced headphone, Nervana stands to change the game of listening to music completely. The company has intrinsically designed a headphone that sparks the impulses in the brain to stimulate the release of dopamine (the neurotransmitter that helps in controlling the brain’s pleasure centers) that literally gets the listener high off music alone. Not that the headphones are wired with dopamine or any drug crystals, but are enhanced with low-power electric stimulations that get in sync with the music, thereby triggering the brain to release dopamine.

Many products such as weed, cocaine, chocolate and alcohol are known to trigger the release of dopamine in the brain and getting the user high. Nevertheless, Nervana has now come up with this creative way of releasing dopamine and unnaturally getting you high based on music alone.

In explaining how headphones work, the company’s CEO, Ami Brannon, explained: “Our device uses a conductive ear bud that sends electrical signals through the ear to the vagus nerve in the brain to release dopamine, which is the brain’s feel-good neurotransmitter.”

Apparently, the headphone that is set to make waves when it finally hits the stores is being marketed as a lifestyle and wellness device; thus, doesn’t require approval from the FDA. Just like every other thing that brings happiness in this world, the headphone will not be available on the cheap. It is reported that it will cost around $300 with sales stipulated for next month.
