The Unlikeliest of Friendships
We’ve brought you some of the most unusual animal friendships like this truly odd couple before, but we still can’t believe that a dog and an owl could become best mates even after coming across these surprisingly gorgeous photos by Tanja Brandt.
Tanja, who turns out to be a professional animal photographer and talented collage artist, was going about her daily routine when she captured Poldi, the one-year-old owlet chilling out with Ingo, the Belgian shepherd.
As shown in these photos, the pair look extremely cheerful to cozy up to one another and look totally cool in each other’s company.
According to Tanja; “It’s fair to say that Ingo and Poldi have a ‘protector-protected’ relationship with Ingo acting as Poldi’s protector, apparently because Poldi doesn’t know how to live on his own.”
The story surrounding Poldi and Ingo is somewhat touching. Poldi wasn’t hatched until two days after his six siblings and he therefore became vulnerable as a result of his diminutive size. On the contrary, Ingo was born in a strong family that had a lot of hard-nosed police dogs.
Despite their very different backgrounds, the pair has struck an unbreakable friendship with Ingo being over protective of the little owl. Their unlikely bond is as robust off-camera as it appears in these super-adorable and timely photos by Tanja.
