Precious, a nine-year-old Collie/Elk Hound mix was unfortunately surrendered by her owners because they couldn’t move with her to their new location. But thanks to these delightful canine portraits, which will melt any dog lover’s heart, Precious and many other homeless dogs are now hopeful of being adopted by new owners.
This great idea is the brainchild of Arkansas based Tammy Swarek who started dressing up the rescue dogs to attract attention to their heart-touching stories and help would-be owners to personally connect with them.
The kind-hearted photographer was inspired after coming across a similar Facebook project for sheltered dogs. So she thought it wise to contact a local dog shelter known as the Union County Animal Protection Society (UCAPS) and has worked with them ever since. Tammy now creates professional head portraits for every dog at the shelter as a way of creating awareness for the homeless canines.
“The idea of dressing up the dogs was to show their unique personalities and make them even more lovable. The pictures help potential owners have a personal level of connection with the dogs in a way that they otherwise wouldn’t have if they were just locked in a cage,” Tammy noted.
Indeed, these outfits portray the animals in a different light and it will make your day and the hardest part will be not adopting all of them.
