For the ardent Die Hard fans, this may be the story of a second-time love. It has now been officially confirmed that action man, Bruce Willis, is coming back to play his iconic character John McClane. As they always say, second-time love may at times turn sour and fans seem to realize this. One may wonder why it is so important to illustrate a character that fans have seen from the original story. Nonetheless, the story of Bruce Willis coming back in the sequel of Die Hard is notably, about telling the ‘untold stories’ that were not available in the original story.
After working on 2007’s Live Free or Die Hard, which was the fourth one of the Die Hard series, director Lens Wiseman confirmed that Willis will have a prominent role in the latest prequel. According to him, this prequel will be set both in the modern day and in 1978 with Willis set to act on the modern day scenes.
Lens also confirmed that the latest movie named, Die Hard 1 will come with a different twist and probably some love scenes that were not present in the original movie. Lens says.
“We’ve never seen the actual love story,”
“We know its demise, but we’ve never seen what it was like when he met Holly, or when he was a beat cop in ’78 in New York when there was no chance of him making detective. It’s something I’ve been thinking about, and now we’re doing it.”
While this news may be received by mixed reaction from ardent Die Hard fans, it cannot be denied that the prequel may be faced with the challenge of cast the 60-year-old Willis as a young John McClane. However, Lens is adamant that they will have to find somebody with confidence, swagger, charisma, wit and charm to impersonate the younger Bruce Willis in playing the character, John McClane.
To be honest, Lens did a fantastic job in the production of Live Free or Die Hard. However, the franchise does not have positive outlook right now following the critical failure of A Good Day to Die Hard. Taking the series to a new direction seems like a wonderful idea, but the way fans will respond to the upcoming prequel with Willis in it remains to be seen.
