Gears of War 4 Grabs Spotlight at Microsoft E3 2016.
Rob Ferguson, Studio Head of The Coalition made the most of the Microsoft pre-E3 2016 press conference, raising the curtains on Gears of War 4, and probably bumping up the ante on game offerings for the year.
To be released on both Xbox One and Windows 10, Gears of War 4 allows players on both platforms to have a go or two at each other via cross-play, a first, and certainly a fresh new market-capturing opportunity. The game series has already earned its makers an impressive $1 billion in sales, and the latest version is sure to add to that number significantly.
Although the landing date for the game is several months away, Microsoft is managing to keep things hot by doling out information at all the right times, and this time around, it was six minutes of gameplay that captured the attention of the audience.
Along with Ferguson, Laura Bailey – you would know her as the voice of Kate – took to the stage to play the demo version and soon, the audience were treated to several new details, including new weapons and radical ways to tackle the onslaught of those dreaded Swarm enemies as well as enhanced graphics.
Here’s what went down in the gameplay, with Kate and JD Fenix leading the way with another Gears hero.
There was also news of the customizable Xbox One Elite controller that has been tweaked to give you the best Gears of War 4 experience. The catch? You will have to shell out an extra $200 to get your hands on this one. It may sound like a good deal to some – especially considering its awesomeness – but there are plenty out there who believe that the original Elite controller is already overpriced, so how this controller will do, only time will tell.
For now though, the wait begins – Microsoft has announced that Gears of War 4 will be available on October 11th, 2016. Oh, and the presence of Marcus Fenix towards the end of the clip is sure to make the wait even harder for true Gears of War fans!
