Brooklynite comes up with the coolest cake ever
We showed you the sushi burger that caused a stir among internet foodies. However, the latest delicacy that’s currently sending foodies into overdrive is called the Raindrop Cake. It’s a blob-like dessert that’s calorie-free, translucent and basically tasteless.
While this is probably the first time you’re hearing about it, it’s not all that new. Just like the sushi burger, the Raindrop Cake is a conventional Japanese dish, and was brought to the shores of New York by Darren Wong. According to the 36-year-old, this cake that appears like a huge raindrop is made out of agar (a vegan alternative for gelatin), natural spring water and topped with roasted soy flour called Kinako and a black sugary syrup called Kuromitsu.
Wong, who isn’t a trained chef but loves baking, debuted the Raindrop Cake at Smorgasburg, a popular outdoor food market in Brooklyn. He sold out all the 700 Raindrop Cakes in minutes as these unique pieces proved a hit at the event. Wong later said;
“Raindrop Cake is a fun and playful food experience that will get smiles on people’s faces.”
Let this cool delicacy bring a smile on your face at just $8.
