Guan Yu is revered for the role he played during this war period and was later immortalized after being turned into a god, who’s particularly worshiped in southern China.
The statue that was unveiled in Jingzhou city in China’s Hubei Province and reveals a fearsome bearded warrior standing 48 meters tall and is said to weigh more than 1,329 tons. Guan Yu is depicted as an intimidating figure with a “Green Dragon Crescent Weapon.” The bronze statue was designed by Han Meilin, who is widely known for designing mascots that were used during the 2008 Beijing Olympics.
