Nike decided it wouldn’t wait for you to come to its store to buy shoes, it brought the shoes to you during the NBA All Star Game in Toronto.
It was the NBA All-Star Weekend. Basketball fans, NBA stars; past and present arrived in Toronto in their droves to witness an important annual event in the NBA’s calendar. Nike and its Jordan brand being some of the major stakeholders of the event both on a business and sponsorship level creatively decided to honor the city of Toronto both for its love of basketball and Nike sneakers. The sportswear manufacturer did it in uptown fashion by transforming a TTC streetcar into a moving Nike sneaker boutique for its Nike+ members.
Named the SNKRS XPRESS, the moving boutique invited Nike+ members to experience a holistic supremacy of Nike and the Jordan brand. They offered a special collection of some amazing footwear such as Air Jordan XXX, Nike Air Force 1 Flyknit, Kobe 11 Royalty (in honor of the retiring Kobe Bryant), Jordan Cement IV, as well as several other new surprise drops that their fans did not expect.
Without a doubt, SNKRS XPRESS was styled to allow members to experience Nike’s forward-thinking ways and innovative technologies. The incredible adventure began at the 277 Queen Street West where members of the public (through Nike+ membership) enjoyed the Nike experience from 10am to 8pm running from Thursday through to last Sunday.
In all basketball style, SNKRS EXPRESS’ interior oozed everything basketball and sneakers. From the lustrous basketballs to deep bumping music associated with the game, everything was exactly on point. On top of the new releases, fans were also offered classical Nike samples, as well as many extra services.
The real adventure began when the streetcar hit the station. Members had their tickets checked and punched before hopping onto this stunning streetcar to the available highly comfortable leather seats. They were then advised to wear the readily available headphones and watch an intro clip that was presented by a cartoon basketball player who told them how to buy and experience the new cool sneakers.
With the intro, it became easier to scroll through the newly released Nike and Jordan kicks and swipe your credit card if you liked any of the footwear. Members then had another twenty minutes to play basketball-based games such as basketball trivia and virtual hoops or take a tour at the back for some of the past iconic Nike and Jordan sneakers before being dropped at Peter Street.
